Lady Lions advance as 5A regional runner-up

Caddo junior Gage Vaughn took home her second state championship in three years while a trio of Durant and Caddo boys grapplers each won a match at the OSSAA State Wrestling Championships last weekend at OG&E Coliseum in Oklahoma City.

The second-ranked Caddo boys rolled into the Class A state tournament with a 59-49 win over Allen for the Area championship last week while the top-rated Lady Bruins had to bounce back from an area finals loss to turn back Talihina, 7132, and punch their ticket.

The Durant Lions racked up 221 team points to finish only behind Sulphur in the team standings at the Tishomingo Powerlifting Meet last week. There were a pair of Lion individual weight class titlist along with a host of placers to rack up the impressive point total.
