Storm walks off ECU on Senior Day

Leave it to a senior to provide the walk off heroics against an arch rival on Senior Day. Cameron Cromer did just that on Saturday for Southeastern as his final hit for the Savage Storm was a seventh inning solo home run over the right field wall that gave the hosts a 3-2 win over East Central.

Dramatic finishes were the story for Rock Creek as the Lady Mustangs rode a pair of walk off hits from Macey Weger to victories on the way to the slow pitch regional title and trip to the Class 2A state tournament for the first time since 2017.

DHS baseball sweeps Edison to wrap up district

A solid district sweep of Tulsa Edison to wrap up the regular season secured the Durant Lions the fifth seed out of District 5A-4 in the Class 5A state baseball playoffs that begin this week. With the 4-1 and 12-2 victories, the Lions improved their record to 17-16 on the season, their first winning record in a regular season since 2017.

Lady Lions down Elgin, fall shy of 5A playoffs

Durant’s Lady Lion soccer team finished the season with a 3-1 road victory at Elgin last week but came up short of making the playoffs on a district tiebreaker after losses to Duncan and Noble. Coach Katie Williams’ club wrapped up the 2024 campaign with a 7-7 overall record.

Atterberry pleased following SE spring football

With increased numbers of healthy bodies and depth, Southeastern was able to finish up spring football drills with a full scale spring game recently that left head coach Bo Atterberry and others optimistic heading into the fall.

Calera trips Caddo for conference baseball title

The Calera Bulldogs overcame an early 4-0 deficit to rally past Caddo, 12-4, last week and claimed the Bryan County Conference baseball championship. After a rugged start, thanks in part to a pair of Calera errors and three straight Bruin hits to start the contest, Bulldog ace Logan Bumgarner settled in and stifled the visitors the rest of the way.

School record falls as DHS track competes well

Durant’s Lady Lion track and field team claimed top honors in their own annual meet last week as well as placing fifth in the rugged Ardmore Invitational. The boys’ squad, meanwhile, took third place in their Durant Invitational and ended up fourth in the team standings at Ardmore.

Caddo, Silo capture district softball crowns

Two-time defending state champ Caddo began its playoff quest for a third straight slow pitch title last week, posting three shutouts in Class 3A district tournament action. Silo, meanwhile, cruised to dominant wins as well with a Class 4A district tournament sweep of Hartshorne.
