Bryan County is growing and changing. We have a lot to be proud of — good people, strong communities, hardworking families, small businesses, and neighbors who step up when someone needs help. But we also know there is more work to do.

His big idea shifted America into high gear

Aging is something everyone has thought about some time in their life. Things like, “What would I do if I was older?” or “If I was older, I would do this!” But what we all try not to think about is not being able to care for ourselves where we end up in the nursing home.

The Durant Weekly News, reported August 1944 as the first year Bryan County farmers planted popcorn on a “contract basis.” Popcorn was a great addition to small farms because it didn’t interfere with the growing or harvesting of field corn, peanuts, or cotton.

This is not normal behavior

Upon learning of Robert Mueller’s death, President Trump wrote on his Truth Social site, “Robert Mueller just died. Good. I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD. J. TRUMP” (New York Post, March 21, 2026).
