Council agrees to vacate part of alley for county building

Durant City Council, in its recent monthly meeting, agreed to vacate part of an alley for a Bryan County Courthouse Annex building that will be constructed. City attorney Tom Marcum said the alley is between Fourth and Fifth avenues north of Beech St.

Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers and the Choctaw Nation have partnered to address the immediate mental health needs of children in the community. A ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration was held last week for the Children’s Urgent Recovery Center in Durant.

Election set for Durant Board of Education member

During the regular meeting of the Durant Board of Education, the board approved a resolution calling for an election for board member No. 5. That seat is currently held by Joyce Northcutt and the election will be in February 2025.
