Jarid Taylor Memorial Run joins chamber

The Jarid Taylor Memorial 5K and Fun Run joined the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce last week and a ribbon cutting was held at the chamber office. Deputy Taylor was en route to a 911 call on Jan.

DHS student named Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year

Durant High School student Avery Cochran was recently named the Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Club of Red River Valley Oklahoma. Cochran, who will be a junior for the 2024-2025 school year, is a part of the Durant location.

Durant Sports Festival planned for June

The City of Durant is excited to announce the upcoming Durant Sports Festival, organized by Durant Parks and Recreation and Events International. The month-long festival, sponsored by Discover Durant, will be held in June and feature 16 sports at locations throughout the city.

Carl Albert Pool opens

The City of Durant’s Parks and Recreation Department has announced the first day of the 2024 pool season. The pool at Carl Albert Park will officially open on Friday, May 17, for Splash Day.

Choctaw Nation a leader in recycling

As the calendar ushered in another Earth Day, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) continues to lead the way for southeast Oklahoma in recycling efforts. April 22 marked Earth Day 2024 and CNO Recycling Services operate year around.
