Durant High School has a Jobs For Graduates (JAG) program that was discussed during a recent meeting of the Durant Board of Education. Superintendent Mark Moring said the program was approved a year ago, but it did not begin until last winter.
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched a Berrywood Lane home in the Silo area near Durant on Sept. 24 that authorities said was connected to the shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas. Bryan County Republicans are having a vigil and remembrance of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist who was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University. The vigil will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at The River Church, 1280 Mockingbird Lane in Durant.
