DHS thinclads run at rugged Madill Invitational

Durant High School girls’ track team claimed sixth and the boys took eighth in the rugged Madill Invitational Track Meet last week. The Lady Lions’ top individual finish against the strong field of competitors came in the 800 meters where Avery Sager ran to a secondplace time of 2:34.42.

Silo softball, Calera baseball win tourneys

Top-seed Silo bounced back from an upset loss in Saturday’s opening contest to win five straight games rolling all the way through the loser’s bracket to claim the Stonewall Beast of the East slow pitch championship.

Lions bounce back with Coalgate diamond win

Runs were definitely hard to come back in showdowns with district leader Claremore last week, but the Durant Lion baseball team broke through with a non-league triumph over Coalgate to close the week’s action.

Durant’s Macee Hall inks track scholarship

After her mother passed away a couple of years ago, Durant’s Macee Hall knew she had to achieve her mother’s dream of her going to college and becoming successful. The senior track stalwart will have just that chance, recently signing a track and field scholarship with East Central University.

Lion baseballers take 1 of 3 in festival

Durant’s High School baseball squad sandwiched a win over Hugo between defeats against Stephenville, Texas, and Byng in the Annual Broken Bow Spring Break festival last week. The Lions were on the short end of a 3-0 decision to Stephenville but erupted late to blow past Hugo, 10-3.

Savage Storm upsets 13th ranked Harding

Southeastern rode a strong pitching effort from Trinity Oden and made the most of one hit, which came from Caddo product Kennedy Morgan to stun 13th ranked Harding, 1-0, in Great American Conference softball action on Saturday.

Silo, Caddo and Calera compete in early festival

Caddo and Silo each posted 3-1 records while Calera went 2-2 in the Rattan Spring Break Festival last week. Defending 4A state champ Silo rolled to a 14-3 win over Stratford, 13-6 against Tushka and 15-3 facing Roff with its only loss coming at the hands of the host Rams, 10-7.

Calera baseball reaches semis at Gulf Shores

In a week filled with out-of-state competition for several area baseball squads, Calera had the best showing of any in notching a 5-1 overall record and making a run to the semifinals of a tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
