Heartbreak for Durant in last second loss

Following a dramatic two-minute rally to take the lead over rival McAlester with just 47 seconds remaining it looked like the Durant Lions had an upset of the Top 10 ranked Buffaloes right within their grasp last Friday night.

Lady Lions 11th at state, boys win Academic title

Durant’s girls cross country team placed 11th in the Class 5A State Meet Saturday while the Lions took home the Academic State Championship with a pair of individual state placers.

Annual Choctaw PowWow set for November 1-3

The 19th Annual Choctaw Pow-Wow, one of the nation’s largest, is set for November 1-3 at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant. More than 13,000 people attended last year. A total prize payout of more than $200,000 will be available for the numerous dance and drum competitions.
