A late third quarter lead slipped away and a potential go-ahead drive in the final frame stalled in Coweta territory as the Durant Lions suffered a 17-13 loss at home last week to slip to 2-6 on the season.

Annual Choctaw PowWow set for November 1-3

The 19th Annual Choctaw Pow-Wow, one of the nation’s largest, is set for November 1-3 at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant. More than 13,000 people attended last year. A total prize payout of more than $200,000 will be available for the numerous dance and drum competitions.

The Silo Lady Rebels ran into defending state champ Perry in the Class 3A state fastpitch opening round and saw their season ended for a second year in a row to the Lady Maroons in a 6-1 decision at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.

Bruins romp, prep for Homecoming showdown

The Caddo Bruins forced four turnovers and racked up 406 yards of total offense in just one half to blast by Savanna, 55-8, in district football action last week. Now 6-1 overall and 2-0 in league play, the Bruins face a huge showdown with co-leader Keota on Friday night for Homecoming.
