Rock Creek, Achille take baseball district titles

The Rock Creek Mustangs cruised by Haworth to claim the Class A district baseball title and Achille outlasted Soper in capturing the Class B district crown last week. In the opening contest, Rock Creek romped to a 10-0 run rule verdict and then finished it off with a 6-2 victory.

Competing against a powerpacked field likely even tougher than the state meet, medal placings were tough to come by for the Durant High School track and field team at Ardmore last Friday. Facing foes from a host of 6A schools as well as 5A, Durant’s top finish came in the boys’ 800 meters where K.J.

Lions capture home track meet championship

The Durant boys captured the team championship while the Lady Lions took second in the Annual Durant Invitational Track Meet last week. In the boys’ division, the Lions edged perennial powerhouse Plainview for the crown while the Durant girls ended up behind only Kingston in the team standings.

The Durant Lions snapped a 10-game skid with a big district victory at rival McAlester while finishing last week with a 2-2 record against a rugged slate. After a 4-0 loss to McAlester the bounce back came in a 12-5 triumph over the Buffaloes.

Silo baseball sweeps Kingston for district crown

Perennial power Silo claimed another baseball championship trophy for the case as they swept past Kingston last week to capture the District 3A-5 title. The Rebels romped to a 10-0 run rule win in the series opener before having to hold off the Redskins in a 2-1 game two thriller.
