Tough weekend for SE in Harding league series

The going was definitely tough for both the Southeastern baseball and softball teams against Harding University last weekend. Coach Alan Trayler’s baseball squad won one of three contests in the league series on the road while the Savage Storm softball team was swept in three home outings.

Lions win 2nd straight 5A powerlifting crown

Durant scored points in just four weight divisions but a dominant performance by the Lions at 181 pounds proved just enough to edge Coweta and claim the Class 5A state powerlifting championship last Friday in El Reno.

Durant garners soccer sweep over Ada

Surpassing last year’s victory total the Durant Lion soccer team remained unbeaten last week with a 1-0 blanking of rival Ada. The Lady Lions made it a sweep while improving to 2-1 with a strong second half as they also cruised by the Cougars by an 8-1 count.

Durant sweeps Glenpool, stays unbeaten in district

Dominant pitching fueled the Durant Lions to a district baseball sweep of Glenpool last week. The 10-0 and 2-1 DHS wins kept them unbeaten in league play at 4-0 while moving to 6-1 overall.

It was a roaring start to the 2026 season for the Durant High School track teams last week as the girls placed first and the boys took third as a team in the Marietta Invitational. The Lady Lions edged out Ardmore for the title while the Lions finished only behind perennial power Plainview and Byng.

Caddo edges Calera slow pitch to top area action

Runs were extremely hard to come by but Caddo managed to make three tallies in the opening frame stand up for a tight 3-2 opening week victory over Calera in slow pitch softball action. Calera posted an 8-6 advantage in hits but only plated two runs against the solid Lady Bruin defense.

Tulsa Edison connected on key free throws down the stretch and a desperation three pointer at the buzzer by Durant was off the mark as the Lady Lion season came to an end with a 37-34 loss in the Area Tournament at Jenks last week.
