Southeastern Oklahoma State University senior Torrie Taylor has been awarded the Walter O. Mason Scholarship by the Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs (SWASAP).

Bryan County Sheriff Johnny Christian passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 28, 2025, at the age of 58, and last Friday, March 27, a day before the first anniversary of his death, he was remembered for how he lived during a ceremony at the Highland Cemetery pavilion.

Southern Oklahoma Student Aero Day flies into Durant

Durant High School Aviation hosted Southern Oklahoma Student Aero Day on March 26 with 12 schools and more than 200 students from southeastern Oklahoma participating. Many aviation professionals attended to give students opportunities to learn more about aviation.

A four-hour No Kings Rally was held Saturday at 12th and Main in Durant to protest the Trump administration. Pat Notley, chair of the Bryan County Democratic Party, estimated that about 145 people total attended the protest.
