Durant golfers claim Academic State Titles

While not as heralded as previous teams, the Durant High School golfers notched solid performances with including several state qualifiers that included the Lady Lion program reaching state for the 11th straight season while finishing fifth as a team on the Muskogee Country Club course.

Senior Maya Dodson has been a key cog in the Durant Lady Lion basketball success over her career despite being plagued by injury difficulties. Over the past three years, Dodson was one of the team leaders in every offensive category while helping the Lady Lions to an overall record of 37-34.

Over the last several years, Silo seniors Ashton Davis and Shawn Weaver have been part of a fledgling Rebel track program that set school firsts this spring with eight state qualifiers accounting for 18 regional medals.

Southeastern Golf Classic to be held on June 14
