Rain played havoc with the end of the week after the Durant Lions dropped a pair of narrow district baseball decisions to Tahlequah. The Lions fell 4-1 in a nail biter at home to start the two-game set before a 3-0 loss in the second game in spite of solid pitching efforts.

Durant soccer squads each notch victories

Durant High School soccer teams each posted a pair of victories in season-opening competition last week. The Lady Lions began the year with a 12-0 thumping of Tulsa McLain and followed with a 6-1 triumph against rival Ardmore.

Wins have been tough to come by as of late for the Southeastern baseball team while the softball team has been mired in a difficult stretch as well, although they did manage to take two of three games against Southwestern in their most recent home series.
