After getting off to a blazing 8-0 start to the fall baseball season, the Colbert Leopards ran into problems last week in the form of rival Calera in dropping a 12-2 decision in the early area showdown.

A year ago the Durant Lions felt like they should have beaten rival Ada in a narrow 14-7 loss in a blackout delayed contest at Paul Laird Field. The momentum of that game helped spur the Cougars to an 11-2 record and the Class 4A state semifinals.

Outscoring three foes by a whopping 51-9 margin, the Silo Rebels remained unbeaten on the season last week with a romp to the Tupelo Tournament championship. Coach Eddie Jeffcoat’s club smacked Moss, 14-4, in round one and then blasted Latta in a 19-4 run rule in the semifinals.
