Many area teams peaking on baseball diamond

Silo wrapped up the District 3A-5 championship with a pair of wins over rival Kingston and the Rebels then cruised to the Roff Tournament championship in dominant fashion during a perfect 5-0 week on the baseball diamond.

Lady Lions blank Shawnee, stay in playoff contention

Despite a tough loss to Tulsa Edison on Friday, the Durant Lady Lion soccer team remained in solid contention for a Class 5A playoff spot last week with a 5-0 blanking of Shawnee on the road.

It was another successful home track meet for the Durant High Track and Field squad as the girls placed fourth and the boys seventh in the very rugged 17-team field last week.

Caddo rallies past Calera for Caney softball title

In quest of a fourth straight slow pitch state championship, the Caddo Lady Bruins rode a strong playoff tune up performance in sweeping to the Caney Tournament championship last week as they toppled Bryan County foe Calera in the title game, 12-4.

SE baseball keeps postseason hopes alive

A Saturday twinbill split with conference powerhouse Southern Arkansas put the Southeastern baseball team in prime position for securing a return to the Great American Conference Tournament for the first time since 2022.

Durant soccer teams sweep Tulsa Hale

Durant High School soccer teams posted their first sweep of the season Friday as both the girls and boys squads toppled Tulsa Hale at Paul Laird Field. The Lady Lions ran away for a 10-0 mercy rule thumping to improve to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Lion baseballers claim McAlester Shootout pair

In a week off from 5A district competition, the Durant Lion baseball team posted a pair of wins in four contests, including three in the McAlester Shootout. Both DHS losses came to Class 2A powerhouse Tushka, as the Lions fell 9-8 and 8-0 while defeating Preston (5-1) and Class 6A Muskogee (12-9).

Silo outslug Calera in 4A slow pitch showdown

In a showdown of Class 4A Top 10 foes, defending state champ Silo flexed its muscle last week with a 15-7 win over ninth-ranked Calera. Each team is slated to host district tournaments next week Wynnewood and Atoka visiting Silo and Heavener and Wilburton at Calera.
