Storm softball sweeps NE in home opener

After their first 11 games of the season on the road, Coach Mackenzie Sher’s Southeastern softball team seemed plenty happy to be back in the comforts of home on Monday with a doubleheader sweep of Northeastern.

Lady Lions clinch home regional with wins

Durant celebrated Senior Day in style on Saturday as the Lady Lions improved to 10-1 since the Christmas Break and secured a home Class 5A regional for the first time since 2008 with a 43-41 win over Pryor.

With the playoffs looming, Caddo put the finishing touches on a dominant run to the Bryan County Conference basketball championships with a sweep at Calera last week in rematches from the county tournament finals a month ago.

SE rides sizzling shooting to ECU victories

Playing before the largest crowd of the season last week, Southeastern cruised to dominant wins over rival East Central in Great American Conference basketball action. Coach Darin Grover’s ladies were 66-46 winners and the men belted the Tigers, 92-65, in the nightcap.

Dillon Cole Bowen of Durant recently returned from Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from America’s Auction Academy. While in Dallas, he completed 83 hours of intensive auctioneer training.

ABOVE: The Durant Lady Lions basketball team won a home game Saturday over Pryor 43-41. Their head coach, Will Robinson and daughter Clara, passed away during a Christmas Eve car accident. Will’s father, Tony Robinson, is leading the team through the season and he was presented a basketball signed by team members. The win secured a home Class 5A regional for the first for the team time since 2008. See game story on sports, page 10.
